F.A.Q. ...

1) What is the difference between aspen and blue pine?

Aspen is a light wood, soft in feel and dynamic in color. In board form it is uniquely light, and will create a lovely contrast when used with the darker log form. Blue pine or "beetle kill pine" is generally lodge pole pine, which has a natural grey or blue tint running throughout the veins of the tree. It is darker than aspen and consequently appears more rustic than board aspen. When used in conjunction with aspen log the result is a beautifully dark and gnarled piece of furniture.

2) Whats the difference between water-based finish and oil-based finish?

Medicine Wolf Company will finish your furniture in either a water-based finish or oil-based finish. The water-based finish is a two part application, starting with a sanding sealer and continuing with an application of our high quality finish coat, creating a fully sealed item. The resulting surface feels soft to the touch, is fully spill proof and very natural, with very little yellowing over time.

Our oil-based finish (or polyurethane) is a two or three coat application that creates a fully sealed, super durable finish. Soft in feel, this finish will darken the piece and create some contrast between the darks and the lights in the material. There also will be a slight "ambering" of the wood

3) Can I put my Medicine Wolf Company furniture outside?

Many Medicine Wolf Company pieces are suitable for outside, or in a covered porch situation. For outside we recommend the oil-based finish. Shoot us an email to let us know the piece is for outside and we will add an additional coat at no extra charge.

4) How long will my order take once submitted?

Usually Medicine Wolf will be in position to ship your order six to eight weeks after we receive it. We will make every reasonable effort to ensure prompt delivery, but keep in mind that due to the nature of wood and our commitment to quality we won't rush an order simply to complete it.

5) What does lifetime guarantee mean?

Medicine Wolf Co. guarantees our products in residential use against manufacturer's defects in residential use for the life of the original purchaser.

6) Why Medicine Wolf Company

Furniture makers of the Medicine Wolf Company share a passion for the finest natural materials, traditional craftsmanship, and classic design. Our goal is to create beautiful furniture that resides elegantly in your home or office. Handmade mortise and tenon joints are tight fitting and hardwood doweled to ensure generations of use. Tops and shelves are biscut joined to ensure seamless construction. All of our products are then finished with your choice of high quality, zero maintenance finishes.

7) How do I know what type of mattress will fit on my Medicine Wolf Company bed?

We attach the rails (or frame) of our beds at approximately 12" above the ground. This will leave enough room underneath to use the vacuum or to slide in an under dresser. Although any standard box spring will work perfectly on our rail system, you should consider using either a low profile box spring (5") or even a bunkie board (2") if you like your bed at a more traditional height.

8) What is a bunkie board?

A bunkie board is a very thin box spring, designed to be used on a bunk bed, daybed or regular bed when a lower mattress height is desired.
